UCONN Health Half Marathon
Presented by the Hartford Marathon Foundation
The long-time, beloved race tradition on Iron Horse is moving to Saturday! Enjoy the picturesque two-loop 13.1 mile course along the Farmington River and local farmlands, with 10K and 5K race distance options. The new post-race party is highlighted by a delicious hot bRUNch served alongside refreshing Samuel Adams craft beer.
Participants in all race distances earn a short-sleeve race technical shirt and a custom finisher medal.
Not interested in racing in-person this year? No problem, keep the tradition alive and take part in the virtual UConn Health Virtual Half, 10K or 5K! Run or walk the distance anywhere and anytime you’d like between June 3-5, then submit your results through your haku participant account to make it official!
Go bananas for the 10K! Participate in at least three of these four 10K events and earn the Bunch of 10Ks medal: Middletown 10K, Burlington to Collinsville Classic 10K (May 1), Hartford HealthCare Mystic 10K (May 15) and UConn Health 10K. Click here for more details.

Half Marathon Details:
The UConn Health Half is a flat, looping course through the charming Farmington River Valley community of Simsbury, Connecticut. It starts on Iron Horse Boulevard steps from the Simsbury Performing Arts Center with an 8 mile loop before passing by the finish area and heading back out for 5 more. Both loops travel along the base of the Metacomet Ridge and feature panoramic views of Talcott Mountain, the Farmington River, sprawling farms, and the iconic Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge. USATF Certified Course.
The race start will consist of one corral with “Self Seed” pace per mile signs to assist with participant spacing.
The Half Marathon will start on the west side of the median on Iron Horse Boulevard, near the entrance to the Simsbury Performing Arts Center and adjacent to the finish line. It will then merge with the 5K race about ¼ mile in and both races will run together for roughly 2 miles. Click here for more details.

It starts on Iron Horse Boulevard and features panoramic views of Talcott Mountain, the Farmington River, sprawling farms, and the iconic Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge. USATF Certified Course. 5K Details:
The UConn Health 5K is a flat, loop course through the charming Farmington River Valley community of Simsbury, Connecticut and features panoramic views of the river and the iconic Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge. USATF Certified Course.
The 5K will start on the east side of the median on Iron Horse Boulevard, near the intersection with Wilcox Street and consist of one corral. It will merge with the half marathon race about ¼ mile in and both races will run together for roughly 2 miles. Click here for more details.
Virtual Race Details:
Register for the UConn Health Virtual Half Marathon, 10K or 5K option to get in on the race action from wherever you’d like! Run or walk anytime during the weekend of Friday, June 3, through Sunday, June 5.
Participants will be timed and measured using their own timing device. To make your race official, submit a run or walk through your haku participant account between 12:00 AM on Friday, June 3rd and 11:59 PM on Monday, June 6th by either syncing to a compatible wearable device OR entering results manually. HMF FitKids Run Details:
All FitKids races are $12. Parents/escorts accompanying their children may run for free. Parent/guardian must sign waiver during the registration process for children to participate. Register online using the button above or register in person on race day.
All participants receive a finisher’s medal and custom race swag.
Race will take place on the soccer fields inside the Simsbury Performing Arts Center, children will get the choice to run a ¼ mile, a ½ mile, or one-mile. Children should run in the distance most appropriate to their age (click here for age/distance chart). Click here for more details.
Social Distancing and Safety Measures:
HMF continues to closely monitor best safety practices for outdoor events and plan race details following state and local guidelines. Currently, face masks are not required at outdoor events in Connecticut. If race modifications are required, details will be updated on site pages and via email to all registered participants.
